Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: June 30, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to your use of MCP Inspector and our license, update, and (where applicable) hosted services. It supplements the Terms of Service and EULA. We may suspend or terminate access for violations.
MCP Inspector is a debugging tool that captures Model Context Protocol traffic, which can contain credentials, secrets, or personal data. Only inspect traffic on systems and accounts you own or are authorized to debug.
1. Authorized inspection only
You must have the right to capture and inspect the traffic you run through the Software. Do not use it to intercept, capture, or analyze traffic from systems, accounts, networks, or persons without authorization, or in any way that violates wiretapping, computer-misuse, or interception laws.
2. Prohibited conduct
- Circumventing, disabling, or interfering with license validation, seat limits, or other security/technical measures.
- Sharing, reselling, sublicensing, or publishing license keys.
- Reverse engineering except to the extent permitted by law; using the Software to build a competing product.
- Using the Software to develop, test, or operate malware, to attack or gain unauthorized access to systems, or to exfiltrate data you are not entitled to.
- Violating any applicable law, or infringing the intellectual-property or privacy rights of others.
- Misusing any hosted endpoint we operate (e.g., the license API) — including excessive automated requests, scraping, or attempts to disrupt the service.
3. Your responsibility for captured data
Because captured traffic may contain secrets or personal data, you are responsible for handling, storing, and sharing exported traces (e.g., .mcp-trace files) appropriately, and for complying with any laws that apply to that data. The Software keeps your captured data local by design (see the Privacy Policy).
4. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations and may suspend or terminate licenses or access, with or without notice, where we reasonably believe this AUP has been violated or to protect the Software, our services, or third parties.
5. Reporting & contact
